Potential for inclement weather affects university event schedules

Concerns related to possible impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Florence have resulted in schedule changes for several events at Western Carolina University.

University's chancellor search process resumes; committee to meet Sept. 21

The search for WCU’s next chancellor will officially resume Friday, Sept. 21, as the committee helping select a successor to the late David O. Belcher will hold its first meeting since the July 16 announcement that a finalist for the position had withdrawn from consideration.  


Reception for ‘Defining America’ exhibition set at Fine Art Museum

A reception is set for 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, to mark the opening of the “Defining America” exhibition at WCU's Fine Art Museum.

Bobilya, Chandler help co-author paper for journal

Andrew Bobilya, associate professor and director of WCU’s Parks and Recreation Management Program, and Resa Chandler, assistant professor in the Health and Physical Education Program, recently published a paper with co-authors from Prescott College, Montreat College and the Millbrook School.

Kauffman named recipient of Old North State Award

N. Leroy Kauffman, WCU associate professor of accounting, has been named a recipient of the Old North State Award, one of North Carolina’s highest civilian honors.  


English Department's Carter to participate in joint poetry reading

Catherine Carter, a WCU professor of English, will join two other poets in presenting a reading at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at City Lights Bookstore in Sylva.

Grants for WCU projects announced by Research Administration

Grants awarded at WCU during August have been announced by the university's Office of Research Administration.  


Digital Marketing and Public Relations Program set in Asheville

WCU's Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering a Digital Marketing and Public Relations Certificate Program from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on six Fridays, beginning Oct. 5 and running through Nov. 16, at the university’s Biltmore Park site in Asheville.
