Laufer to serve as guest artist for piano festival

Milton Laufer, director of WCU’s School of Music, will be performing, teaching and adjudicating as guest artist for the Dr. Sharyn Edwards Piano Festival of Southeastern Community College.

Steiner co-edits ‘Motivating Students on a Time Budget’

The Association of College and Research Libraries has announced the publication of “Motivating Students on a Time Budget: Pedagogical Frames and Lesson Plans for In-Person and Online Information Literacy Instruction,” which was co-edited by Sarah Steiner, head of research and instruction services, and associate professor, at WCU’s Hunter Library.

Graduate student tabbed for Council on Collegiate Opioid Misuse

Since coming to WCU to complete her master’s degree in social work, Rosemary Yelton has seen firsthand the effects the opioid crisis is having on Western North Carolina.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jerri McLemore, a professor of pathology at Wake Forest University and medical examiner for Western North Carolina, who is also from the Creek Nation of Oklahoma.

Artist collective plans artwork in Dillsboro, sets town hall meetings

In partnership with the Appalachian Women’s Museum and the Jackson County Public Library, WCU’s LIVLAB Artist Collective will be hosting two town hall meetings to gather local stories of women who have built, nurtured and sustained local communities and the region.
