Charlie Duke will be featured during an event Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
The ceremony in the Bardo Arts Center performance hall and a reception that will be held afterward in the center's Star Lobby are free and open to the public.
He is a professor of English at East Carolina University and the author of three collections from Carnegie Mellon University Press.
Rounding out the schedule is the Controlled Chaos Film Festival, a celebration of the creations of students in WCU’s Film and Television Production Program.

The exercise was conducted Friday, Aug. 30, by the U.S. Marshals Service at the federal courthouse in Asheville.
Both workshops will be held at the university’s instructional site at Biltmore Park in Asheville in early October.
The event offers both individual and partner events with canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards.
The latest tally comes just two years after student head count eclipsed 11,000 for the first time, and it marks the eighth time out of the past nine years that the number of students enrolled at the university has risen.
