New sculpture coming to WCU’s Apodaca Science Building

The outside of Western Carolina University’s Apodaca Science Building will soon feature a new sculpture.  

One Day for Western challenges include $25K match for POTM Ireland trip, $5K for speech, hearing clinic

Challenge gifts issued so far include an anonymous donor pledging to match up to a total of $25k to help send the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band to Ireland in 2024 and a $5k dollar-for-dollar match for donations to the Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Ricardo Nazario-Colón, WCU’s inaugural chief diversity officer, has been appointed by the State University of New York’s Board of Trustees as the senior vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion and chief diversity officer.  

News writing course part of effort to keep local newspapers in circulation

New professorship in early literacy established with $1.5M from Goodnight Foundation

The College of Education and Allied Professions is the recipient of a $1.5 million gift from the Goodnight Educational Foundation to create a new endowed professorship in early literacy.

In Costa’s book, “Radical by Nature – The Revolutionary Life of Alfred Russel Wallace,” he dives into scholarly research, journals, notebooks and letters to help bring Wallace’s fascinating history to life.
