Meltzer scholarship endowment will benefit hundreds of students from array of disciplines

When former Highlands resident Curtis Meltzer died last year, he left a multimillion dollar estate gift to WCU to support students in the College of Arts and Sciences, increasing his and wife Enid’s overall scholarship endowment to $3.3 million.  


Susan Belcher receives WCU service award; alumni honored during Homecoming

The Chancellor's Brunch and Alumni Awards Ceremony included presentation of the Distinguished Service Award to Susan Brummell Belcher, wife of late WCU Chancellor David O. Belcher, and honors for alumni Mary Beth Fallin Hunzaker, Kenny Messer and Elizabeth Ransom.  


Painting by local artist-alumna helps pave the way for new bridge over Cullowhee Creek

The structure, manufactured in Chattanooga, was installed this week with an expected opening date for pedestrian traffic of Thursday, Nov. 15.  


Opportunities to learn about global teaching, learning offered through International Education Week

Wind Ensemble will perform Russian music, with American premiere

WCU's Wind Ensemble will perform a concert entirely of Russian compositions in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15.  


Free Enterprise Speaker Series hosting documentary, discussion

The event will include a screening of the documentary “Bus Stop Jobs” and an open discussion about poverty and economic mobility in North Carolina.

The Department of Campus Activities is looking to get the campus into the holiday spirit with “The Nutcracker” at the Bardo Arts Center followed by Holidays at the A.K. Hinds University Center.  


Fine Art Museum presents ninth annual Handmade Holiday Sale

The Handmade Holiday Sale will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, throughout the lobby of John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center.
