Online programs receive national rankings from US News and World Report

More than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students are currently enrolled in WCU online degree programs. The university has been consistently ranked among the highest in the nation by U.S. News and World Report, now in the ninth year of collecting data from distance education providers.

WCU to offer employment law workshop for outdoor business professionals

The session is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at the university’s site at Biltmore Park in Asheville.

Campus community prepares for a week of MLK Jr. events

Oralene Anderson Graves Simmons is the keynote speaker for Western Carolina University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration. Simmons will give her presentation Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. in the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center. The theme is “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Legacy of Connection: The Story of U.S.”

Mountain Heritage Center exhibit to look at Latino life in North Carolina

“Al Norte al Norte” chronicles the daily life of Latinos living in North Carolina and opens on display Monday, Jan. 13, at the museum.

Search committee for WCU athletics director receives charge, looks to make decision by March

A 15-member committee looks to select no more than six candidates for off-campus interviews in mid-February before selecting one or two finalists to bring to campus later that month.

WCU Police take 'no shave' challenge over winter break for campus fundraiser

Participating officers raised $280 and Mike Byers, WCU’s vice chancellor of administration and finance, matched that amount for a total of $560.

A Decade in Review

The past ten years at Western Carolina University have been transformational, to say the least. Our student population has consistently grown; our campus has evolved to support the future, and all members of our Catamount family have experienced many life-changing moments here at WCU. After taking a moment to reflect back, we now look to the future. Not only for our university but also for our students, faculty, staff, and community that call Western Carolina University home.

Haywood Community College joins WCU for university direct-entry admission program

The new Catamount Navigator Program builds upon the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement that governs the transfer of credits from community colleges to UNC System institutions.

Happy Holidays

This holiday season Western Carolina University First Gentleman Dennis Brown solicited the assistance of Paws and a group of WCU students to help decorate the Chancellor’s Residence and surprise Chancellor Kelli R. Brown for the couple’s first holiday on campus.
