Sylva storyteller to perform in conjunction with 'The Way We Worked' exhibit

Sylva storyteller Gary Carden will perform his iconic “Blow the Tannery Whistle” on Thursday, Oct. 18, as part of the ongoing “The Way We Worked” exhibit being hosted by Western Carolina University’s Mountain Heritage Center.

Love for Cats keep Greeks coming back

It’s all in the family for Amy Kilby, Samir Hafiz and Jerry Matheny when it comes time to shake the money tree for Western Carolina University’s student-athletes. All three are enthusiastic participants in WCU’s Greek Challenge – now in its fifth season – which rallies members of past and present fraternities and sororities at WCU to pony up big bucks and to join the Catamount Club all in support of athletic scholarships.

Base Camp Cullowhee schedules Outdoor Gear Sale and Swap

Base Camp Cullowhee, WCU’s outdoor programming organization, will hold its sixth annual Outdoor Gear Sale and Swap from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, on the lawn of A.K. Hinds University Center.  


Early voting site returns for midterm election, opens Oct. 17 at Hinds University Center

For the second time, Western Carolina University will host an early voting site, and school officials are hoping students respond the way they did in 2016.
