Competition segments take two to three hours, with volunteers serving as proctors and grading tests.

A concert and jam session will be held at the headquarters for Homebase College Ministry, located on the east side of the WCU campus at 83 Central Drive.

Transfer students inducted into Tau Sigma National Honor Society

The honor society recognizes the academic accomplishments of new transfer students who earned a 3.5 or greater GPA during their first semester at WCU.

Jazz Festival 2019 brings day of workshops, free concert to campus

Guests include Bob Sheppard, a saxophonist whose list of credits includes playing alongside Natalie Cole, Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock, and drummer Ed Soph, who has performed with Cedar Walton, Bill Evans and Joe Henderson.

UNC board names two new trustees, reappointments to WCU board

Newly appointed trustees Kathryn Crisp Greeley of Waynesville and Kenneth Hughes of Asheville will be joining reappointed board members J. Bryant Kinney of Denver and Rebecca Schlosser of Greensboro on the WCU board.

Student Work to be Showcased in Research and Scholarship Celebration

The spotlight will shine on student research at Western Carolina University at the 2019 Research and Scholarship Celebration. The RASC will feature approximately 200 presentations by undergraduate and graduate students over the two days, and faculty, students and community members are welcome to attend, said Kloo Hansen, WCU’s undergraduate research coordinator in the Office of the Provost.

Cantrell named to higher education news organization board

Geoff Cantrell, public communication specialist in WCU’s Office of Communications and Public Relations, was elected to the board of directors for the College News Association of the Carolinas as the organization held its annual meeting recently in Greenville, South Carolina.
