Grand opening scheduled for Scholar Studio at Hunter Library

Grand opening for the Scholar Studio at Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24.

The event will begin with a welcome and ribbon cutting. Members of the university community are invited to check out the new space, partake in refreshments and view demonstrations of services and equipment.

The Scholar Studio, located on the library’s first floor across from the Circulation Desk, is designed to help students, faculty and staff complete the research process by creating and sharing scholarly products. The sandbox-style space features maker equipment, including a laminator, button makers, plotter printer and vinyl cutter; audio/visual recording and editing hardware and software; job preparation resources; virtual reality; and meeting spaces.

For more information, contact Heidi Buchanan, research and instruction librarian at Hunter Library, at 828-227-3408 or hbuchanan@wcu.edu.
