WHEE for Life team offering faculty, staff a chance to get GRIT

WHEE for Life, Western Carolina University’s employee wellness team, is kicking off 2019 by offering Group Rotational Interval Training – otherwise known as GRIT.

The exercise program will be held from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on six successive Fridays, Feb. 1 through March 8, in Studio 2 at the Campus Recreation Center. The cost is $10 per person.

Members of WCU’s faculty and staff who would enjoy working out in a team atmosphere, motivating others and supporting teammates during workouts outside of class are encouraged to join the group. Each class period, teams of four participants will rotate through five stations, with each station including exercises for the upper and lower body, cardio and a core exercise, giving participants a total body workout.

GRIT participants do not have to be a member of the Campus Recreation Center to participate. Funds raised through the GRIT program are used to support the popular Summer Employee Bingo Challenge, which is designed to incorporate all the elements of wellness – social, environmental, intellectual, emotional, occupational, spiritual and physical.

Registration for GRIT is on a first-come, first-served basis and is limited to 20 participants. Registration is offered online.

In addition to hosting events throughout the year, Whee for Life distributes a monthly newsletter and maintains a website with tips and resources, including links to past newsletters. For more information, visit wheeforlife.wcu.edu or email wheeforlife@wcu.edu.
