Patricia B. Kaemmerling, chief financial officer for Access Computers Inc. in Norcross, Georgia, has been re-elected chair of the Western Carolina University Board of Trustees.
Kaemmerling, a 1971 graduate of WCU, was originally elected to serve as chair of the board last September, Election of officers was among the first order of business Friday, Sept. 7, as the board held its opening quarterly meeting of the 2018-19 academic year.
The board also re-elected J. Bryant Kinney, a public and government affairs executive in Charlotte and principal of Kinney Public Strategies, as vice chair. Kinney is a 1982 graduate of WCU.
Robert C. Roberts of Asheville, regional executive vice president for First Citizens Bank & Trust Co., was elected to serve as board secretary. All three officers were elected by acclamation.
Also during the Sept. 7 meeting, the board’s newest member, Casey Cooper, took the oath of office. Cooper, chief executive officer of Cherokee Indian Hospital, was appointed in July to fill the unexpired term of former board member Gaither Keener, who stepped down from the position for medical reasons.
