Friends of the Arts ‘friend-raising’ concert will feature Jim Witter

Editor's Note: As of Thursday, Sept. 13, the Jim Witter concert for WCU's Friends of the Arts has been postponed until a later date. Please check back later for updates.

Jim Witter and his band return to Western Carolina University’s John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center on Sunday, Sept. 16, to present the WCU Friends of the Arts’ annual “friend-raising” concert.

Witter will take the stage at 3 p.m. His “Time in a Bottle” performance is designed to take audience members on a journey back to the 1960s and 1970s, bringing back the sights and sounds of the social and cultural revolution that catapulted folk artists such as Jim Croce, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Harry Chapin and Bob Dylan to the forefront of the musical landscape.

“You may not be able to save ‘time in a bottle,’ but experiencing one of Jim Witter’s signature musical and lyrical voyages sure comes close,” said Jill Jacobs, marketing manager for the Bardo Arts Center.

The concert is the centerpiece of the Friends of the Arts’ current “friends” drive and generates support for the newly renamed David Orr Belcher College of Fine and Performing Arts. Individuals who donate to Friends of the Arts can purchase tickets for $10. Tickets are $25 for the general public.

More information about the Friends of the Arts and online ticket purchases are available at foa.wcu.edu. Tickets also can be purchased by visiting the Bardo Arts Center box office or by calling the box office at 828-227-ARTS.
