Retirement planning course to be offered at Biltmore Park site

Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering a two-part “Retirement Planning Now” course from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, and Thursday, Jan. 30, at the university’s site at Biltmore Park in Asheville.

Certified financial planners Joel Kelley and Jacob Sadler will serve as workshop instructors.

“As an educational experience, ‘Retirement Planning Now’ contains something for everyone,” Sadler said. “We address financial issues that pertain to most people as they prepare for retirement. The course will help participants develop a framework for their retirement plan and covers information that can help to align personal finances with personal values in order to accomplish your most important goals in life.”

Many key aspects of planning for retirement such as income tax planning, retirement income and expenses, risk management, investment management and estate planning will be covered.

The course also touches on retirement lifestyle planning and goal setting, and discusses many retirement roadblocks and mistakes.

“Whether you plan to retire 20 years from now or have just recently retired, the information you learn in this class can be beneficial throughout your lifetime,” Sadler said. “You went to school to prepare for your career. Now, it’s time to prepare for your retirement.”

The registration fee for the course is $79. Visit pdp.wcu.edu or call 828-227-7397 to register.
