Region’s students coming to campus for science, engineering fair

The 2019 Western Regional Science and Engineering Fair will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20, and Thursday, Feb. 21, at Western Carolina University’s Ramsey Regional Activity Center.

The fair is the largest science, technology, engineering and mathematics (also known as STEM) event held in Western North Carolina.

“We want to encourage all local science fair winners in N.C. Region 8 to enter our fair,” said Kelley Dinkelmeyer, fair director and physics instructor at WCU. “This year, we will have an exciting presentation by the wonderful people at the Asheville Museum of Science that you won’t want to miss. We look forward to seeing all of our region’s young scientists in February.”

Grades three through five will compete on Feb. 20, and grades six through 12 will compete on Feb. 21.

Students who are not submitting projects are welcome to attend both days to enjoy the speaker session, participate in the scavenger hunt, view projects and stay for the award ceremony at no charge.
