Hannah Sink, Jonah Weston announced as 2018 Homecoming royalty

Hannah Sink, a senior from Kernersville majoring in communication sciences and disorders, and Jonah Weston, a junior from Raleigh majoring in communication, were announced as Western Carolina University’s Homecoming queen and king Saturday, Nov. 3.
The announcement was made during halftime of WCU’s football game versus the Citadel.
WCU students voted in early October to choose their top 10 candidates for king and top 10 candidates for queen from a pool of entrants. A Homecoming court panel conducted interviews with each of the 20 candidates, and then, based on the interview sessions and letters of recommendation from university faculty or staff, narrowed the pool of candidates down to the five men and five women who made up this year’s court. The student body voted Oct. 22-23 to choose the king and queen.
Sink is a graduate of Glenn High School in Kernersville and is the daughter of Lisa Sink and Kent Sink. Her activities at WCU include playing for two years on the women’s soccer team and serving as a new student orientation counselor, intern for the Catamount Club and volunteer for the University Participant Program, and as vice president for Alpha Xi Delta, a sorority that is nationally partnered with Autism Speaks.
Weston, a graduate of Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, is the step-son of Melissa Weston and the son of Dan Weston. A musician and songwriter, Jonah Weston serves as a resident assistant in a campus residence hall, which allows him to work directly with freshmen as they experience college for the first time.
