School of Music faculty talent to be showcased during recital

Western Carolina University’s School of Music begins a fall semester recital series Tuesday, Sept. 4, with the Faculty Showcase Recital.

Members of WCU's music faculty will perform in a free recital.

The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the recital hall of the Coulter Building. Admission is free and the recital is open to the public.

Scheduled performers include Bonnie Rossa and Eldred Spell on flute; Pavel Wlosok, Lyn Burkett, Andrew Adams and Lillian Pearson on piano; Shannon Thompson on clarinet; Will Peebles on bassoon; Travis Bennett on horn; Zsolt Szabo on trombone; Michael Schallock on tuba; Adam Groh on percussion; Bradley Ulrich on flugelhorn; and David Ginn on trumpet.

Described as a lively, varied two-hour performance, musical selections will range from “Autumn Leaves” to “Canzone Napolitana con Variazioni” and composers from Beethoven and Mozart to Franz Schubert and Claude Debussy.
