Lauren is a Registered Dietitian who works in the outpatient facility for the Haywood Regional Hospital seeing patients with a wide array of conditions. Lauren specializes in providing nutrition counseling for diabetes patients in both one-on-one sessions and group classes. She is also responsible for various leadership opportunities in Haywood County.

Her students say Lauren is an excellent preceptor because she helps them understand the reasoning behind the way she approaches different patients depending on their disease state/condition. She provides handouts that are helpful for students and patients and utilizes various hands-on materials during her counseling sessions.

When asked if she had any advice for new students, Lauren replied "(My) advice for new students or young professionals starting their career in Nutrition/Dietitians is to stay up to date with new trends in nutrition around conditions such as diabetes, heart and kidney disease and cancer. The research and science are currently evolving and staying up to date with the latest nutrition related information is very important."
