Spearheading initiatives to help WCU achieve its energy goals has been Reid Conway, director of energy and utilities in Facilities Management. Conway received an individual award for his work at the university and across the state for providing leadership in energy management.

“I work with many of the UNC System schools and community colleges to provide help and to answer question on energy efficiency.  I continue to teach sections of NC State’s Energy Management Diploma Series,” Conway said. “This is a great honor for WCU.  This award is because of the hard work that the whole university has been working on for many years.”

Conway added that staff, faculty and students all contributed to WCU’s success by reducing energy usage. He said the Office of Sustainability helped spread awareness to the entire campus.

Before coming to WCU, Conway worked for the State Energy Office. In that role, he was an early supporter of WCU’s energy consumption goals.
