Western Carolina University has once again garnered national attention for being one of the best places in the nation to work.
Out of 400 employers on the midsize list, WCU is ranked 34th, which is in the top 8.5% of employers listed.
“To be included again this year as well rank in the top 8.5% of the list is truly a testament to our dedicated faculty and staff at WCU,” WCU Chancellor Kelli R. Brown said. “The positive impact these professionals have on not only our students but throughout Western North Carolina and beyond, makes me so proud and makes WCU the wonderful university it is.”
According to Forbes, responses were given by current employees, employees who had worked for the company within the past two years, and individuals familiar with the company through friends, family, or peers in their industry. Greater weight was given to evaluations from current employees and former employees.
“This is tremendous recognition for WCU and is a testament to the hard-working, dedicated faculty and staff who make WCU such a special place,” said Cory Causby, associate vice chancellor, human resources and payroll. “From the moment you step on campus, you can tell our faculty and staff truly care about the university, its students and the region we serve.”
All survey responses were tallied to produce a score for each company and the 1,000 organizations with the highest scores landed on Forbes’ final lists – 400 on America’s Best Midsize Employers 2024 and 600 on America’s Best Large Employers 2024.
The annual ranking – conducted in partnership with market research firm Statista – is based on a survey of more than 170,000 U.S.-based workers at American companies. Survey respondents were asked to rate their employer and if they would recommend their employer to others.
Organizations with 1,000 to 5,000 employees were deemed midsize employers while the companies with more than 5,000 employees were considered large.
