There are eight new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations on the 3rd level of Western Carolina University’s parking deck.

Like the three existing EV stations in the Reid meter lot, the new charging stations are open to the public and require the ParkMobile App for use.

Use the ParkMobile! app to pay from online, receive notifications before a meter expires and extend time to avoid parking tickets.

The university funded the new charging stations based on an increase in electric vehicles on campus.

“We have seen an increase in EV’s on campus and we monitor this based on parking permits,” said Lauren Bishop, chief sustainability officer. “Currently, there is no specific plan on the number of future stations. We will continue to monitor the need for more level 2 stations as we have been.”
