The Western Carolina University Board of Trustees elected a slate of officers for 2021-22, made appointments to several committees and swore in new board members. The actions happened Tuesday, July 20, during a special-called board meeting of the full board.

The board elected Robert Roberts of Asheville, regional executive vice president for First Citizens Bank & Trust Co., to serve as chair; Kathy Greeley, owner of Kathryn Greeley Designs, a full-service interior design firm in Waynesville, to serve as vice-chair, and Rebecca Schlosser of Greensboro, a WCU alumna who is a former high school teacher and current community volunteer, to serve as secretary. All three officers were elected by acclamation. In addition, the trustees appointed chairs and vice chairs for three standing committees. Haden Boliek will serve as chair of the academic affairs and personnel committee, with Schlosser as vice chair. Greeley will serve as chair of the administration, governance and trusteeship committee, with Tim Haskett as vice chair. Casey Cooper will chair the finance and audit committee, with Ken Hughes as vice chair.

The board also officially swore in reappointed members Roberts, Cooper and Boliek. New trustee members sworn in were Bill Brawley, Joe Crocker and Jake Robinson.
