Historian Chris Woolley to give talk on deforestation in colonial Mexico

Chris Woolley, a historian of Latin America, will give a talk at Western Carolina University as part of the Josefina Niggli Latinx Speaker Series.

Woolley is an assistant professor of history at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. His talk, titled “The Forests Cannot Be Commons: Spanish Law, Environment Change and New Spain’s Council on Forests,” will be Thursday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m. in the A.K. Hinds University Center’s Catamount Room.

In addition to the Josefina Niggli Latinx Speaker Series, the event is sponsored by WCU’s Humanities Initiative, the Latinx Learning Community and the Department of World Languages. It is a DegreePlus event.
