Juried Undergraduate Exhibition on display at Fine Art Museum

One of the longest-running art traditions at Western Carolina University, the 51st annual Juried Undergraduate Exhibition, has returned to the WCU Fine Art Museum.

The exhibition allows emerging artists to showcase their artwork with a larger public, as well as enhance their skills in presenting artwork in a professional gallery setting. This year’s exhibition, on display through Friday, March 22, showcases 29 works created by undergraduate students from a variety of disciplines.

The artwork will be reviewed by an outside art professional – Lee Walton, an associate professor of art at UNC Greensboro. The reception and awards ceremony will be held Thursday, March 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Fine Art Museum.

Exhibiting students include Abigail Mosher, Alison Kabrich, Annabela Cockrell, Brandi Swisher, Casey Sweet, Christen Ray, Dustin Newton, Elijah Troutman, Elizabeth Stone, Elliott Suess, Grace Woodard, Hallie Sholar, Heather Warriner, Joel Basnett, Katherine Coyne, Katy Milke, Matthew Harris, Lindsey Turner, Luke Webb, Mitch Foust, Sarah Kunkleman, Starkim Noble, Taylor Short, Thaddeus Prevette, Victoria Alexander, Tyler Martino, Zachary Alexander and Zoe Koval.

The museum is free and open to the public. Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m,. and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 828-227-2787 or visit arts.wcu.edu/51st.
