Gifts for student scholarships result in new name for business dean’s suite

The dean’s suite of offices in the Forsyth Building has a new formal name that celebrates five generations of a family’s connections to WCU dating back to the early 1900s.

WCU will be launching a new travel program in 2024 designed to help alumni and friends explore different places, meet new friends and engage in lifelong-learning activities.

‘One Day for Western’ was one day to remember, with more than 1,100 donors

The inaugural all-in day of giving to benefit multiple areas of WCU proved to be one day to remember as 1,128 donors made gifts and pledges totaling $316,337, blowing past an original goal of 800 donors.

Alum Artley Porterfield finds his niche at the Titanic museum

Artley Porterfield is a storyteller from Jonesborough, Tennessee. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship from WCU and now works as a cast member at the Titanic Museum Attraction in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

One Day for Western challenges include $25K match for POTM Ireland trip, $5K for speech, hearing clinic

Challenge gifts issued so far include an anonymous donor pledging to match up to a total of $25k to help send the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band to Ireland in 2024 and a $5k dollar-for-dollar match for donations to the Speech and Hearing Clinic.
