The College of Education and Allied Professions in partnership with the Division of Educational Outreach invites you to register for the Summer 2021 Equity in Education Certificate. Drs. Darrius Stanley and Jess Weiler, who are faculty in the WCU Educational Leadership program(s) and experts in the area of educational leadership for social justice, are the co-directors of the program.

Using online modules, live discussions, and engagement with field experts, this program will build the capacities of regional educators (aspiring and practicing), school and district based personnel, educational preparation professionals, school, district and community-based leaders to lead equity systems change. Specifically, this certificate will help educators: 1) develop their lenses to recognize injustice through historical analyses and identity development, 2) devise leadership strategies to improve the experiences of marginalized youth and families, and 3) construct a plan to implement and sustain systemic reform for equity. Students will receive a certificate and continuing education credit upon successful completion of the program.

Program Features:

  • 8 week, online module format including 4 live online, evening sessions
  • Three guest lectures from experts in the fields of educational leadership and social justice education
  • Peer collaboration and networking
  • Development of a Professional Development Plan for Institutional/Systems Reform
