-Alex Gary, Director of Athletics

On June 10 Alan Beck ’04 was announced as the 11th head coach in the history of the Catamount baseball program. For the past six seasons, he served as the associate head coach at Georgia Southern University. When Beck and his family arrived in Cullowhee, they brought a deep familiarity of the program with them. Beck played for the Catamounts from 1999 to 2003 and was not only an All-Southern Conference Team selection for three of those years, he was the 2003 Southern Conference Player of the Year. His coaching career includes two prior stints as an assistant coach for the Catamounts (2005-06 and 2009-2015). “I’m honored to be the next head baseball coach at Western Carolina University,” said Beck. “Cullowhee is a very special place and I cherish my time as a player and an assistant coach. My family – Kim, my boys, and I – can’t wait to lead this program.”
