Nicholas Fasanello, Three-Minute Thesis Competition, People's Choice Award Winner

Nicholas Fasanello, current Communication Sciences and Disorders student, was selected by popular vote for the People’s Choice Award in the 2021 Three Minute Thesis Competition. Fasanello’s presentation on “Reviewing a framework for Concealable Stigma in Communication Disorders: Addressing Adverse Outcomes and Promoting Inclusion” highlights research on the various impacts of stigmatization that people with communication disorders experience

Nurse Corps Scholarships help address health care provider shortages

Shuli Archer, a student in the School of Nursing at Western Carolina University, recently received a Nurse Corps Scholarship from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.

School of Nursing ranked number one in state by educational almanac

The School of Nursing has been ranked first in the state by the Nursing Schools Almanac research team, in part for achieving an almost perfect rate of graduates passing the NCLEX on their first attempt.

Kae Livsey, an associate professor in the School of Nursing, is the recipient of a $10,000 prize award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to help improve pediatric care in Haywood County.
