PRM 354: Outdoor Living and Expedition Skills personifies GRIT!

Students in the woods

Courage, conscientiousness, perseverance, resilience, and passion.

These five characteristics of GRIT were consistently exemplified by the Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) students on their 4-day expedition in the Pink Beds area of the Pisgah National Forest, NC. between October 24-27, 2019.

For those of you not continuously outdoors during that weekend, it rained. A lot. Temps were in the mid to low 40s.

This weather challenge was weathered well by the PRM students as they taught lessons to each other, helped each other set up shelters, cook food, and travel both on and off trail. The picture is of the students after the off trail portion of their travel on the third day of their expedition. In the rain. I believe the picture is worth a thousand words and, definitely, meets those five characteristics of GRIT.
