New AHEC Intern, Annie Vasquez

Annie Vasquez's journey into her healthcare career is well underway, even as she's still working on her undergraduate degree. Last summer, she completed an internship with Vecinos, about which she wrote her impressions here. Annie affirms that her time with our friends at the Farmworkers' Health Program was truly a life-changing experience.

Annie was recently notified that she will participate in a two-year internship with the NC Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Scholar’s Program at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC). The AHEC Scholar’s Program is a two-year educational program consisting of 40 hours of didactics and 40 hours of clinical work each year.

Annie says about this new challenge: "I will be developing new skills, experiences, and strategies to improve both access and delivery of healthcare. While doing this, I will have opportunities to meet leaders in healthcare and make connections with other participants in the program, creating an invaluable network for my future career in the healthcare field. I am so excited to begin this unique program!"

WCUSpanish wishes to congratulate Annie on this fantastic opportunity. We are incredibly proud of you, Annie, and we can't wait to see what you do next!
