Whitney has lived in Western North Carolina since 2010. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, she came to North Carolina to study at Elon University, where she earned her BA in English with concentrations in Literature and Creative Writing. She later earned her MA in English Literature from Western Carolina University, where she focused on Ecofeminist literature. She graduated from the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College with a concentration in poetry and is currently working on her first full-length manuscript.<br>She loves spending time in the outdoors, running, paddle boarding, and hiking with her dog.
Whitney's teaching focus is on first and second year composition and creative writing courses.
Whitney's research interests include elements of poetic craft, ecopoetics, and ecofeminist literature. Her creative research has focused on poetic form and form variations, particularly the sonnet and the American sonnet.
