Title IX Training

In compliance with the 2020 Title IX regulations set forth by the U.S. Department of Education, all materials used to train the Title IX Coordinator, Campus Investigator, hearing and appellate officers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process will be available below.

At Western Carolina University there are Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence trainings and education materials for students, faculty, and staff. Program content is tailored to each audience and educates our campus community about sexual harassment and violence, including how to prevent it, the role of intervention, how to report it, and what campus resources are available.

The Title IX Office conducts training programs throughout the year. The Title IX team is also available to provide customized training for departments or colleges to address specific concerns. If you have questions about your reporting obligations or would like to schedule customized in-person training for your team, please contact the office at 828.227.7116.

Student Title IX Training

All incoming first-year undergraduate, graduate, and transfer students are encouraged to take the Vector Solutions Sexual Violence Education course.  Vector Solutions is an online, video-based program aimed at reducing campus sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking by equipping students with realistic, actionable bystander intervention tools. The program is also available to all WCU students through Vector Solutions by using their WCU SSO credentials.

Employee Title IX Training

All Western Carolina University employees –except for Counseling and Health Services employees—are designated Responsible Employees and are trained on their responsibility during employee onboarding. In-person training is available by contacting the Title IX Office.

For more information about the requirements of responsible employees or to confirm you are in compliance, please see WCU Policy 129: Title IX Sexual Harassment and WCU Policy 53: Unlawful Discrimination or contact the Title IX Office or (828)227-7116.
