Announcing the 2022/2023 Main Stage Season
The School of Stage and Screen at Western Carolina University is proud to announce our 2022/2023 Mainstage Season which features an array of shows including an ensemble of pioneers on the Frontier, a comedic murder mystery, a sister who processes her grief through D&D, a student produced web series, and our annual student film festival.
Quilters
In the American West, a pioneer woman, Sarah, and six women, who are called her daughters, face frontier life. The musical is presented as a series of short tales and tableaux matched with musical numbers, each presenting an aspect of frontier life or womanhood. The patches or blocks show "girlhood, marriage, childbirth, spinsterhood, twisters, fire, illness, and death."

Clue On Stage
A comedic play written by Sandy Rustin. It's inspired by the classic board game and based on the 1985 movie by Jonathan Lynn. One night in 1954, six strangers find themselves invited to a mysterious dinner party at Boddy Manor. Secrets are revealed, people are killed, and plenty of insanity ensues.

She Kills Monsters
A dramatic comedy about the world of fantasy role-playing games and the story of Agnes Evans as she comes to terms with the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When she finds Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she embarks on an adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly's refuge.

Web Series
This year, for the first time ever, the student produced web series is slated as a mainstage production. Film students will work to write a 5-episode Sci-Fi web series, pairing with theatre students to bring the series to fruition. Students will work as showrunners, writers, directors, producers and much more. The series will move into production early in the spring semester.
Jekyll and Hyde
The epic struggle between good and evil comes to life on stage in the musical phenomenon, Jekyll & Hyde. Based on the classic story by Robert Louis Stevenson and featuring a thrilling score of pop rock hits from multi-Grammy- and Tony-nominated Frank Wildhorn and double-Oscar- and Grammy-winning Leslie Bricusse, Jekyll & Hyde has mesmerized audiences the world over.

Controlled Chaos Film Festival
Rounding out the 2021/2022 Stage and Screen season is the most exciting single night of the academic year, the Controlled Chaos Film Festival, a celebration of numerous narrative and documentary films created by the students in the Film and Television Production program. Controlled Chaos will be held on April 29th in the Performance Hall at the Bardo Arts Center.
