The Brinson Honors College Graduate Advantage

The Brinson Honors College Graduate Advantage at Western Carolina University (WCU) offers an additional benefit to Brinson Honors College graduates who pursue graduate study at our institution. The graduate programs listed below currently participate in the Brinson Honors College Graduate Advantage.

In accordance with the Brinson Honors College Advantage, the Department of Chemistry and Physics offers guaranteed admission to the M.S. chemistry program for Brinson Honors College students completing a B.S. degree in chemistry at WCU.

  • Applicants must submit an online application and the application fee to the Graduate School, but GRE test scores, the statement of purpose, and letters of recommendation are waived.
  • Admission conditions include fulfillment of the WCU B.S. chemistry degree requirements and completion of all Brinson Honors College requirements. Other conditions may apply.
  • Acceptance of an offer of admission must be made no later than March 30th for fall admission or November 30th for spring admission.

In consultation with the Graduate School and the Brinson Honors College, the School of Engineering & Technology at Western Carolina University would like to offer WCU Brinson Honors College applicants to the MS Technology program the following value-added advantage:

Paid Graduate Assistantships

  • The MS Technology program will reserve three paid graduate assistantships ($11,500 per year) for Brinson Honors College graduates who apply to the program before December 31st for entry in the following fall term.
  • Students must meet the Graduate School GPA requirements for assistantships of 3.0

Priority Consideration

  • WCU Brinson Honors College graduates will receive an additional two points to their admission assessment scoring rubric, used to select candidates for the WCU DPT program, when applying regular decision.
