Biography

Dr. Kelariz Keshavarz, Assistant Professor of Flute at Western Carolina University, embodies a multifaceted career marked by innovative interdisciplinary projects and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in music. Her roles as a solo performer, curator, adjudicator, composer, and pedagogue showcase her dedication to fostering understanding and appreciation of music’s rich tapestry.

With a profound understanding of the French School of flute playing and a passion for early music, Kelariz delves into historical performance practice, bringing forth nuanced renditions and exploring expressive possibilities. Her pioneering work in contemporary music includes the "Iranian New Waves" project, showcasing over fifty compositions and fostering young Iranian composers despite cultural constraints. Additionally, her electroacoustic project, 'Minimpronics', reflects her innovative approach to musical expression, blending composition with improvisation to expand the auditory palette.
