Biography

Originally from Albany, New York. Received BA in Visual Studies from Dartmouth College in 1983 and MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from the University of the Arts in 1991. Taught book arts at Maryland Institute College of Art from 1991-1995. Moved to WCU from Philadelphia in 1995. Serve as the studio co-ordinator for printmaking and book arts areas in the School of Art and Design. Professional activities include service as Co-Director of the Paper and Book Intensive.

Teaching Interests

Learning through image and object making using paper, print media and book structures, broadly defined. Storytelling and the development of personal content in art. Establishing an understanding of quality, and the work ethic required for successful creative practice and professional preparation.

Research Interests

Studio art involving print media, books and paper. Core of practice involves traditional printmaking methods (especially relief printing), for 2- dimensional work and limited edition artist books. Handmade paper and experimental paper structures are used to engage with images and text
