Dr. Thompson joined the Western Carolina faculty in 2009 after completing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at the University of Virginia. Her professional experience includes individual and group work in community agencies, shelters, transitional housing facilities, and schools. Some of the broad issues addressed in her clinical work include domestic violence, sexual trauma, child abuse, parenting practices, crisis counseling, and play therapy. Her national professional memberships include the American Counseling Association, Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, Association for Specialist in Group Work, and the Association for Play Therapy.
