Area of Expertise: Community Health Nursing, Perioperative Nursing, Nursing Leadership, and Nursing Education.<br>Area of Research Interest: Active Learning Techniques, Simulation in Nursing Education<br>Candice Laney is an assistant professor at Western Carolina University. Prior to coming to Western Carolina University, she initiated her teaching career at Region A Nursing Consortium in Murphy, NC.<br>Professor Laney brings 20 years of clinical experience to the classroom. She has served in several nursing leadership roles including Assistant Health Director & Nursing Director at Cherokee County Health Department in Murphy, North Carolina. Her clinical background includes experience in public health, home health, geriatric, and peri-operative nursing.<br>Professor Laney is a Western Carolina University double alumna, receiving both her undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees from Western Carolina University. She has a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in nursing education. She recently earned the designation Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) by the National League for Nursing.<br>Professor Laney is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. She is also an active member of the National League for Nurses and the PHI KAPPA PHI Honor Society.
