Biography

Dr. Viera's current research explores the integration of arts-based pedagogy in social studies education, andragogy for teacher professional development, and the incorporation of global and multicultural perspectives in teacher education programs. Her teaching intends to enhance preservice teachers' understanding of diversity within classrooms and schools, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate different cultures and to create inclusive learning environments. Dr. Viera volunteers her services to school districts, focusing on inclusive practices for Emergent Bilinguals and strategies for promoting inclusivity in middle and high school social studies classrooms. Dr. Viera has over eight years of teaching experience in both urban secondary schools and higher education.
