In 2019, the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band became one of the only bands in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade history to perform twice in five years. We followed students througout the year as they prepared for the trip, all the way to the end of the parade route in NYC.
As a regionally engaged university, we embrace our role as steward and champion of Western North Carolina. The opioid crisis is a nationwide epidemic whose impact we are all too familiar with in WNC. In October we sought to foster tangible steps that will make significant and lasting contributions to the well-being of the people affected by addiction in our region.
Our award winning Diversity Dialogues series explores issues of diversity and inclusion on our campus, in our community, and across the globe. We've covered Conversations on Color, Being Latino, Cherokee Culture and the latest dialogue addresses the issue of Women in Leadership.

We encourage our faculty, staff, students, alumni and other stakeholders to help us tell the story about how and why they Decide to Succeed. Keep in mind that it is not only about making good choices or achieving great things. It's about purposefully and passionately reaching for a goal that matters.
