Visiting / Non-Degree

You don't have to be seeking a degree from WCU to take one of our online classes. We offer graduate and undergraduate courses in a wide variety of areas, and those courses carry credit that may be transferrable to another institution. You may be looking to complete a pre-requisite course to fulfill application requirements for a graduate program or simply looking for a course that will benefit your professional development and your resume. You may also want to take advantage of WCU's competitive online tuition rates to supplement your coursework at another institution. We welcome you as a visiting student at WCU.

What courses are available?

The majority of our distance course align with our degree programs offered, but we also offer a  number of courses that fulfill liberal studies requirements for UNC system schools and others that may align with your professional development goals in fields such as teaching, healthcare, hospitality and tourism and business. You can use these resources to help you search for classes to suit your needs.

How do I sign up?

In order to register for a course, you will need to first apply to WCU. If you are a transient student in good standing at your home institution or a special non-degree student seeking courses for professional development, you are not required to submit all of the documentation that a degree-seeking student would have to submit. However, you must provide information that demonstrates sufficient background and preparation to warrant admission. Transcripts are not required for visiting non-degree students. If you are interested in taking graduate-level courses, you will need to apply directly to the Graduate School.
