The honor was presented to a contingent of WCU representatives at the recent Engagement Scholarship Consortium conference in Denver.
WCU’s 19th annual Tournament of Champions high school band competition took place Saturday, Oct. 19 – sort of.
The presentation, free and open to the public, is part of an ongoing series of panel discussions on national and international issues.
Highlights include a concert by country music star Lee Brice, a parade down Main Street in Sylva, award presentations to exemplary alumni, and a football match-up with Furman.
Titled “The Earth…Our Only Home,” the concert will include the premiere of “Full Circle,” an original work by composer Ryan George.
The first African American to be appointed as the state’s poet laureate, she also is a member of the North Carolina Literary Hall of Fame and a recipient of the North Carolina Award for Literature.
WCU's Low Brass Festival will present special guest Oystein Baadsvik for a performance Sunday, Oct. 27, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building.
The court will be presented and winners announced during halftime activities at WCU’s home football game against Furman University on Saturday, Oct. 26.
WCU will welcome Alaska attorney Barrett Ristroph for a guest lecture, followed by a question-and-answer session, at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
