Step back in time for WCU's Homecoming week

It is that time of year again – crisp fall air, listening to the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band, watching Catamount football players take the field and reconnecting decades of friendships. Western Carolina University will be hosting various Homecoming events leading up to the home football game on Saturday, Nov. 5, against Wofford.

Below is a list of events on campus and in downtown Sylva:

Monday, Oct. 31:
3-5 p.m. – Official Homecoming shirt giveaway for students.
8:00 p.m. The All-American Haunting with Anthem and Aria in the University Center Grandroom.

Tuesday, Nov. 1:
4-9 p.m. – Student Homecoming Carnival on campus.

Wednesday, Nov. 2:
4-9 p.m. – Student Homecoming Carnival on campus.

5-7 p.m. – Reception for “We Will Not Be Silences: Standing for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women” at the Bardo Arts Center.

Thursday, Nov. 3:
5:30-7:30 p.m. – Intercultural Affairs Homecoming pep rally for students in the ICA office.
7-10 p.m. – Thrift Store Prom for students in the UC Grandroom.

Friday, Nov. 4:
5:30-8:30 p.m. – Alumni Central Parade Party at the Paper Mill Lounge in downtown Sylva

6:00 p.m. – Homecoming Parade in downtown Sylva
6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. – Homecoming movie: “DC League of Super-Pets.” $6 in the UC Theater.

Saturday, Nov. 5:
7:30 a.m. – WCU Pride of the Mountains Marching Band rehearsal at E.J. Whitmire Stadium
9-10:30 a.m. – Chancellor’s Brunch and Alumni Awards in the UC Grandroom
10 a.m. – noon  – Homecoming hike on the WCU trail system.
11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – WCU Alumni Association Homecoming at Central Stadium Lot
1:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – WCU African American Alumni and Friends tailgate at the Fieldhouse Lot
