Online programs recognized in ranking by US News and World Report magazine

Western Carolina University is again listed among the best providers of online degree programs in the 10th annual ranking by U.S. News & World Report, released Tuesday, Jan. 25.

From almost 400 bachelor’s and more than 1,700 master’s degree programs evaluated nationally, WCU was recognized as 67th in online bachelor business programs; 123rd in online graduate business programs; and 190th in online bachelor programs.

WCU distance and online programs are consistently ranked among the best and most accessible in the nation, designed to fit into individual schedules and lifestyles. For working adults, completing a degree online may be the most practical way to obtain knowledge and credentials, while balancing job and family demands. Those enrolled in online programs are more likely to be working professionals in their 20s to 40s looking to advance or change careers.

More than 2,000 undergraduate and graduate students are currently enrolled in WCU online degree programs at undergraduate and graduate levels.

WCU offers online bachelor’s degree programs in birth-kindergarten education, criminal justice, emergency and disaster management, finance, management, emergency medical care, engineering technology, business administration and law, and innovation leadership and entrepreneurship, plus a program for registered nurses to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Master’s degree programs provided online by WCU are sport management, construction management, innovation leadership and entrepreneurship, health sciences, human resources, special education, nurse educator, nurse leadership, project management, school administration, and elementary and middle grades education.

U.S. News & World Report determines rankings through assessments in four categories: student engagement; student services and technology; faculty credentials and training; and peer reputation.
