Holiday video greeting features Paws, students helping first gentleman decorate

With the holidays fast approaching, Western Carolina University First Gentleman Dennis Brown solicited the assistance of Paws (the Catamount mascot) and a group of WCU students to help decorate the Chancellor’s Residence and surprise Chancellor Kelli R. Brown for the couple’s first holiday on campus.

That’s the premise behind WCU’s 2019 holiday video greeting to faculty, staff, students, community, alumni and friends. It was produced by the video team of University Communications and Marketing.

The video features Paws prowling stealthily across campus, with students mysteriously disappearing in his wake. The scene then shifts to the Chancellor’s Residence, where Dennis Brown is sorting through boxes and boxes of decorations as Paws and the students arrive to assist. The task of decorating is nearly complete when Chancellor Brown shows up and is greeting by Paws, who plops a purple Santa’s hat on her head, filling her with the holiday spirit.

The university holiday video has been an annual tradition since December 2011.
