Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment is offering a workshop, “Proactive Strategies for Preventing Employee Hiccups During the Holidays,” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the university’s instructional site at Biltmore Park in Asheville.
Jon Yarbrough, partner at the law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, will serve as workshop instructor.
“It’s the perfect time of year for Jon Yarbrough to present this topic to business owners and human resources professionals in a half-day format that includes SHRM recertification credits for human resources professionals,” said Jill Thompson, associate director of professional development at WCU. “The holiday season and New Year’s resolutions are reasons to celebrate, but with too much fun and a lack of awareness, issues can arise around the expression of religious beliefs, forced gift exchange and celebrations that take place during company hours.”
Yarbrough will address several issues that managers, directors and business owners need to know before the holidays begin.
Participants will have a chance to learn about the top issues that can cause employee hiccups and why they should disseminate information to employees and communicate expectations before the holidays begin.
After the workshop, participants can join Yarbrough for a networking lunch provided by WCU.
The early registration fee for the workshop is $85. After Saturday, Nov. 30, the price will increase to $99.
