Darby Harris, an instructor in Western Carolina University’s Department of Biology, completed 16 round-trip laps on his bicycle between WCU’s Health and Human Sciences Building and the Jackson County Airport during his 2019 “Biking for Biology” fundraiser.
Harris rode the laps on his road bike Saturday, Nov. 9, to raise money for WCU’s Student Biology Club. He had pledged to ride one lap for every $20 donated to the cause, and raised a total of $310 for the club.
The 2.5-mile round trip includes 560 feet of elevation gain. Proceeds will be used to fund educational events throughout the school year.
