WCU once again selected as ‘College of Distinction’ by online guide

For the second time in three years, Western Carolina University has been chosen as a “College of Distinction” by an online guide that provides information for prospective college students, parents and high school counselors.

WCU is one of 14 colleges and universities in North Carolina that Colleges of Distinction hand-picked among top schools that are well equipped to provide a personalized education catered to students’ interests. The chosen schools were selected based on four areas of distinction – student engagement, great teaching, vibrant communities and successful outcomes. Each were committed to the undergraduate experience.

Schools were nominated by high school counselors, followed by extensive research and interviewing. Under WCU’s profile, the website says the university “provides an ideal study environment that also affords students the opportunity to apply their learning in real settings through service-learning and community engagement, highly selective internships and rich campus programs.”
