Western Carolina University employees will be treated to a country barbecue buffet as festivities for the annual Employee Appreciation Day are held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at Ramsey Regional Activity Center.
In addition to a free lunch, all members of the faculty and staff will receive a gift, and a benefits and vendor fair will be held on the concourse with about 35 vendors. WCU’s Staff Senate will have its photo booth available for employees to have photos made with their friends and colleagues on the concourse, and the university athletics mascot, Paws, will be available to join in the photo opportunity.
Activities from the stage will include the showing of a video featuring WCU’s first African-American student, Levern Hamlin Allen, at noon. A dedication ceremony for the university’s new Levern Hamlin Allen Residence Hall is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 5.
The full lunch menu includes pulled pork barbecue (tomato and vinegar base), fried chicken, grilled Portobello mushrooms, Caesar salad, garden salad, country mustard potato salad, country cole slaw, southern apple bacon slaw, macaroni and cheese, confetti rice, roasted vegetable medley and green beans. The dessert bar will offer pecan pie, Boston cream pie, apple pie and carrot cake.
