UNC board appoints Morrison-Shetlar, Winter to policymaking groups

The University of North Carolina Board of Governors recently appointed two members of the Western Carolina University leadership team to serve on statewide policymaking bodies.

The board reappointed Interim Chancellor Alison Morrison-Shetlar to the North Carolina Arboretum Board of Directors and appointed Kim Winter, dean of WCU's College of Education and Allied Professions, to serve on the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Commission.

The action came as part of the Board of Governors meeting Wednesday, May 22, in Chapel Hill. Bill Roper, interim president of the University of North Carolina System, and Harry Smith, chair of the UNC board, also welcomed WCU Chancellor-elect Kelli R. Brown and East Carolina University Interim Chancellor Dan Gerlach to their posts within the UNC System during the meeting.
