WCU battling West Virginia in ‘top adventure college’ competition

Western Carolina University topped Appalachian State University in the first round of Blue Ridge Outdoors magazine’s “top adventure college” competition and is now going against West Virginia University in the second round.

This year’s contest, “Blue Ridge Mountain Melee,” includes colleges and universities meeting in head-to-head matchups in a 32-school bracket. The college or university receiving the most votes in each round advances to the next round.

Online voting in the second round of the magazine’s poll continues through 11 a.m. Monday, March 11. If WCU moves up in the contest, the university will be pitted against Eastern Kentucky University or Clemson University in the third round. A fourth round of voting is set for March 18-25, followed by a championship round March 25-30.
